Manikumari, from Tekulagudem village in Wazedu mandal, joined the women’s tailoring batch in the CRPF-supported skills programme.

Learning through practice

Training covered measurement, cutting, stitching and finishing on modern machines. Digital platforms helped introduce design ideas, while practical work built familiarity with the tools.

Manikumari received third prize for her performance. Her story is one example of a programme that trained 25 women in tailoring and 125 participants across all five trades.

Skills that can be used close to home

The training provides a practical foundation for home-based tailoring and local service work. Continued follow-up and market connections are priorities for the next phase.
